Great Mughal Emperor gave an order for the construction of Agra Fort, which is similar in design to Red Fort in Delhi and was built in 1565 A.D. This crescent-shaped fort poses splendid exteriors and its presentations are Moti Masjid, Diwan-e-Am, Diwan-e-Khaas, Jehangir's Palace, Khaas Mahal, Shish Mahal and Musamman.
This impressive red sandstone was built on the orders of Mughal Emperor Akbar in 1564 A.D and there is an interesting story behind its formation. It goes as, when Akbar had no heir, he made several visits to holy men to get his wish for a son granted. At one time, he went to Sheikh Salim Chishti, who lived in a village of Sikri. The saint made a prediction that he’d be soon blessed with a son and when his wish-came-true, in order to state his appreciation, he built his capital city and christened it as Fatehpur Sikri. It offers exotic attractions such as Sheikh Salim Chishti town, Diwan-e-Am, Diwan-e-Khaas, Buland Darwaja, Panch Mahal, Jodha Bai Palace and Birbal Bhawan.
